This solar edition of our ultra-compact Inmarsat iSatPhone 2 satellite phone rental has a nominal increase in weight over the non-solar edition, but still very light at only 1250g for the complete kit.

The very practical USB mains and USB car chargers included with our  Ultra-Compact™ satphone rentals allows you to not only charge your satphone rental, but also any other gadgets you might be travelling with.

Our Inmarsat iSatPhone 2 satellite phone rentals are great for voice calls and texting, as well as GPS position reporting. They’re fairly rugged but sensitive to drops so should always be kept in their protective cases.

iSatPhone 2 is ideal for use anywhere except the polar regions and places near the polar regions (Highlands, Northern Canada, Alaska etc.), where mountains may block your view towards the equator).

You need to make your own arrangements to have your iSatPhone 2 satellite phone rental delivered back to us at the end of the rental period, and there are surcharges for phones that we receive back later than the paid-for timeframe. Rentals returned later than the booked time-frame will be charged at £6.50 per day.

Should you use 80% or more of your pre-purchased airtime allowance during your trip, we will automatically recharge your account with another 30 minutes of airtime at a cost of £50.

How to Use iSatPhone 2

SOS Button

If you have rented your iSatPhone 2 and you want to be able to make use of the SOS button on your phone, you will need to contact GEOS and buy travel insurance and or search and rescue insurance prior to your travels. You will be required to register your rental phone with GEOS prior to departure, and you will also need to deregister it from GEOS after your return. There is a USD50 handling fee for us to handle deregistration on your behalf.

Simply register your phone at http://www.geosalliance.com/inmarsat and you can travel with the peace of mind of knowing that when you press that SOS button, the guys at GEOS will know you’re in trouble. During registration you will inform GEOS of who your emergency contacts are, so that when you press the SOS button they know which relatives, friends, or colleagues to notify that you’re in trouble.

If you intend to be able to make use of the SOS button in an emergency it is imperative that you test it before your departure from civilisation to make sure that it functions correctly and that you are satisfied that it is working OK. Please note that, the standard service from GEOS does not include any search and rescue (SAR) services. Should you want search and rescue you can sign up for that as an optional extra, at a nominal fee. See the GEOS website for details.
